Color Popping

So, I've been having a little fun with color lately.  Trying new things with my wardrobe.  Gettin' all fashionista on my bad self.  Okay, not so much.  But I am trying.

It was a springtime resolution to stop with all the blacks and grays, and wear more color that inspired me.

And now I'm linking up with the Pleated Poppy blog for "what i wore wednesdays."  She started it as a place where a group of gals could share outfits and remind ourselves to get out of "our yoga pants slump and put a bit of effort into ourselves."  It's a place to get ideas for beginning fashionistas, like er, um, me.

This was a total risk for me, but fun.

Green dress- Target circa 2007

Pink belt- stole it off my daughter's dress (which was a hand-me-down from either a cousin or good friend)

Purple flower pin- fun find from Catching Fireflies (fabulous store, check them out)

This is me being edgy, and funny.  I played an April Fool's prank on my family and told them I got my nose pierced (on my bucket list for real).  Even though I look silly in this picture, the dainty, but still bad ass nose ring looks pretty good.

Flower pin clipped on my headband is my pop of color and it's from the fabulous Pleated Poppy. The cool colorful shower curtain is from Ikea, no I'm not wearing it, but just thought I'd mention it.

Easter came this week after a hellish spring break at home with sick kids and a sick husband, so my outfit was the last thing on my mind.  The old me would have worn a plain black dress and maybe topped it with a gray sweater.  But not the new me.  No, new me grabbed a flower belt, again from the amazing Pleated Poppy, and added it as my pop of Easter color.

I feel just a little ridiculous putting pictures up of me in my fancy Target clothes.  I feel a little (okay a lot) uncomfortable opening up my blog and seeing me everywhere.  I can write about myself and my feelings all day long, but seeing me everywhere is different.  I instantly go into hyper critique mode---the lines on my forehead, the mole near my eye, my good (in a bad way) Republican candidate's wife's hairstyle for Easter, and on and on and on.

I guess that's the point of Lindsey's blog over on the Pleated Poppy.  It is strange indeed to put a little effort into ourselves, to let go and have a little fun.  So, I'm leaving my comfort zone and the negative self-talk that lives there, and I'm going with it.  I'm popping with color and having fun.

All my color popping would make Brad Goreski proud.

Love, love it.  Now if only I could look as beautiful as she does in a hot pink leotard.
