What the hell is snappy casual? (what i wore wednesday)

The time has come in my life.  I am almost 40, it is actually beyond time.
It is ime to finally find out what in the hell "snappy casual" means.

My 20th high school reunion is this Saturday.  The invite says "snappy casual." And my friends, I am at a loss.  I have no idea what to wear.

I'm linking up with the pleated poppy's What I Wore Wednesday(wiww) again.  But this week, it's not about what I wore it's about what I will wear.
pleated poppy WWIW link up was started by blogger/business woman extraordinaire, Lindsey, as a "fun way for us to encourage each other to simply get dressed each day, and get out of our pj’s or yoga pants."

With no budget to buy anything new and snappy (and really not a lot of time left to shop), I sought help from my best pal Steph and her very full and very organized closet.
Everyone should have a pal like Steph- fun, totally in your corner, never judging, always loving and completely generous.

But I need your help too.  Check out my top picks from Steph's closet and help me pick a "snappy casual" winner.

Some of my important criteria:
-comfortable and not too clingy
-makes me look good, but not like I'm trying too hard
-flattering (duh)
-age appropriate
-and of course, fitting with whatever the f&#* "snappy casual" means.

Look #1: Carol Brady Inspired Comfort

Look #2:Holy Mini Skirt

Look #3: Cleavage Revealing (If I had breasts.)

Look #4: Chic and Comfy (I will wear shoes if this is THE one.)

This summer I've "done" my hair a handful of times, spent many days in a bathing suit cover up and worn minimal make-up.   The idea of getting dressed up is a bit daunting.  The idea of getting dressed up and making some sort of impression on people I haven't seen in 20 years is even more daunting.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going into this whole event with a Romy and Michele's High School Reunion type of worry--trying to impress people with a fake life.  I love my life, mostly, no I do, I do.  But there's something about feeling 20 years older and feeling good about that.  Okay, there might be a little bit of the Romy and Michele feeling, but this post is about fashion.  This post is about finding the look that will fit the dress code, let me eat a lot at dinner and dance without worry.  It's also about finding a look that helps me feel comfortable, so I can worry about other things.  Things like who will I sit with, will people really look like their Facebook profiles and reminding myself not to drink too much.

So help me please.  Vote for which look you think fits all the above criteria.  I may not have figured a lot out about life in the past 20 years, but please help me define what the hell "snappy casual' looks like.

Vote for looks 1,2,3 or 4 here in the comments or over on my Facebook page, click here.
I will post the winning look and of course all the details my reunion fun next week.

  2. I like #3! Add some cute accessories and you will be snappy and sassy!

  3. #3 is my favourite! Have a great time :)

  4. uh love #1..!With a pair of high wedges, hair pull back in a bun, and cute jewelry:)

    1. thank you! I love the idea of hair in a bun!!!!

  6. Look #1 is my fave!

I have no idea what snappy casual is either, but my 20th is this year too. *groan*

  7. LOVE all your looks, but my fave is the #1 look - the maxidress. This summer has been so big for Maxidresses and BRIGHT colors! This outfit would be PERFECT for the NEON link-up I'm hosting! It's my first time hosting a link-up, and I hope you stop by!

  8. PS - my 20th was last year, and although they didn't specify "snappy casual" - I think that's what they meant! Pick a fun outfit that you'll be comfortable in! You're going to have great FUN!

  9. My fave is #1. But then I just got back from my 30th HS reunion and I chose to wear a maxi dress. I agree with adding cute wedges, then some bracelets and either a bold necklace or bold earrings. To me a dress is cooler than pants. The maxi means that you don't have to worry as much about bending appropriatly if you happen to drop something. If you miss a swatch when shaving your legs its no big deal, hey ... if you run out of time to shave your legs altogether nobody will look at you like a mountain man in a maxi. Have fun and enjoy yourself.

  10. i'm torn between #1 and #3 - i like the maxi the best, but is it too much for snappy casual? i have no idea. the shorter one looks more casual to me, but i LOVE the print on the maxi. works great with your tan AND i love the idea of the bun too! okay - i think i just decided on #1.

  11. i write a blog called Snappy Casual :) and i vote for #1!!!
