Leaf Piles and What I Know For Sure (this week)

This is our first Fall since we moved.  Our last house, the only house our kids had ever known, was surrounded by giant trees.  So giant that when there was a storm or strong wind, I was terrified that branches would crash down on our house.  Just like when I was a kid I was terrified that lightning would strike my bed in the middle of the night.

So, when we moved into our rental house with no large trees I was very happy, relieved. (Even though honestly, I still get a little freaked out about lightning.) Fast forward six months and my kids are not so happy.  No big trees means no gigantic leaf piles to jump into.

But I am proud to tell you it hasn't stopped my kids.  No moping about a lack of leaves for my little ones.  They took it upon themselves to rake the next door neighbors' leaves into our yard.  They even went across the street and asked those neighbors if they could have their dead leaves.

My kids are awesomely odd, funny little beings and I love them, I know this for sure.

Here are a few other things I know for sure (this week):
  • Being crafty doesn't take a lot of craftiness.  At least being crafty with 2-year-olds doesn't.  Paint + pumpkins=good times.

  • I can't stop listening to this old school (I can't believe it's 10 years old) Eminem song. Yeah, that's right, "everybody needs a little controversy."

  • There's no stopping my Instagram obsession. Check it out.

  • I love Twitter and Ellen, here they are together.  Follow me on Twitter @AngelaYBlood

  • I am confused, for sure.  I feel like I used to be more certain about certain things in life.  I knew which team I was on.  For example I was always more Team Christina rather than Team Britney.  I was always Team Jen not Team Angelina.  But I don't know whose side to be on anymore--Nicki Minaj or Mariah Carey.  Maybe it's because I don't care as much as I used to and I realize there are more important things to care about.  Nah. I think it's because I'm at that weird "too old to be young and too young to be old" stage.  I get why Mariah needs to give her resume out all the time, she's older, she has kids, she is trying to stay relevant and needs validation and respect.  I also get why Nicki is frustrated.  She is coming up strong and ready to be heard and validated and respected, it is her time, her turn now.  I get it ladies, I feel you, but I probably still won't pick a side or watch American Idol this season.
  • I am sure I spend way too much time analyzing pop music divas' tantrums.
What do you know for sure (this week)? Who's team are you on?  Share what you know.  Leave a comment here or leave one on my Facebook page.

  1. i know that i need "too old to be young and too young to be old" on a t-shirt, STAT.

i also am listening to a terrrrrible audiobook, but my ocd won't let me quit in the middle, and all the angst of the college freshman main character is making me 1000% sure that i'm past that "drink terrible vodka/date that asshole in order to fit in" stage. it's not a too-terrible feeling. i guess that goes back to my t-shirt above. <3
