Here Comes The Sun

Last week it was all snowstorms and snow days, this week it's all sunshine and holy hell, spring fever. Actually it's more like summer fever.  I am ready for longer days, lazier days, no homework for anybody, no coats, no worries...

Stepped outside for recess at preschool and saw this beautiful sunshine!
When the sun started peaking out the other day and the snow was melting, I soaked up the rays and felt giddy. I wanted to run around the playground like the character in Tangled yelling "best day ever!!!!!!!!!!"

Here's the thing though, nothing is different except the sun and the warmth. I'm still overtired and need more hours in the day to do everything I want to do. I am still unorganized. The primaries are still fucking with my head (and my heart!), I mean Trump?! I live in Michigan and he just won the Republican primary here and I AM SO CONFUSED and disturbed and I simply don't understand. I've lived in a very Republican county for almost 18 years now and never felt this upset about an election where I am the minority (a totally liberal Democrat). I can't even wrap my head around what is happening and why people are okay with racism and hate and the total idiocy of Trump.

But this is why sunshine and less have-tos and more "let's go outside and play" matter. It hasn't even been a tremendously tough winter in Michigan this year, but I still need more brightness and light. I need to stay outside and stop watching the news and reading Twitter rants and ahhhhhh. My kids need less video games/electronics/phones and more fresh air, hell we all do. We need to be tired from all the fresh air because we were outside for hours, not just because it's getting dark at 4:45 p.m. and everyone is angry and/or scared on the Internet and on TV.

It was 60 degrees so yeah, the boys wore shorts. lol.

Springtime, summertime, longer days, sunshine...we really need you right now.

Because this post really calls for covers of "Here Comes The Sun" and an inspirational flash mobs to that song!

Here are a few:
