Putting Off (& Linking Up With Mama Kat)

This week's posts are a countdown to the most important holiday of the year, um, Mother's Day. Duh.  And my vlog link up with Mama Kat is no different.
This week, I'm talking about some motherhood challenges.  The vlog prompt is "what is something you are putting off?"  It starts out light, but then turns into a conversation about my conflicted-ness as a feminist stay-at-home mother.  It might sound a little controversial.  I hope it doesn't sound entitled and ungrateful. I'm just trying to tell my truth.

And I have no answers, but I would love more discussion...leave a comment if you struggle with some of the issues I bring up in the vlog.

Here's an older vlog about  motherhood---What type of mom are you?
Basically this is my plea for all of us moms to stop judging and start getting along.  What type of mom are YOU?

And yeah, here's a little slam poetry I did.  Last week, one of my pastors at my church asked if I could perform a poem at an event Sunday night.  Well, Tim threw his back out so I couldn't go, but I made this video for them to show.  I have no idea how the poem was received by the young adult crowd.  But hopefully they were very moved but more likely got a good laugh (at me).  Check out my slam poem performance where I quote Run DMC and Prince!

  1. It's a challenge, isn't it? It's so vital to keep a part of our lives just for us, but when we're devoting so much time and energy into our children, family and home, it's tricky! I did a bit of venting on that yesterday on my blog.
    Love your vlogs!

  3. I linked up today too! Loved your video. I think all moms have these feelings. We just do what we can and someday our kids will thank us. We hope!! ha!

  4. Yes -- I know just what you mean! I was actually thinking about the whole feminist/mom thing today (thanks to a book I'm reading) and personally -- being a feminist means being able to MAKE those choices and not having someone tell you that you HAVE to stay home. You know? But I agree that having to put off career goals is frustrating. I'm right there with you.

  5. I am very good at putting off all the things that I don't really want to do. ;)

  6. It is definitely challenging and sometimes a little lonely being a stay at home Mom. When I hang out with my working friends who are Mom's I always feel like the odd man out cause I don't feel like I have much to add to the conversation. But I love it and would not trade with them ever. I like my me time during the day even if it is while doing laundry and grocery shopping ;)

I am the queen on procrastinating the oil change. I hate those smelly car shops.
