Don't Look At Me All Weird

The big kids are back in school and I have been humbled by my psychotic toddler  2-year-old.

He locked me out of the bathroom before 8:30 a.m. yesterday.  I had to climb through the window to get him out.
Not the most flattering picture.

These boys thought it was pretty funny

After dropping the older kids off at the dreaded car loop, Wade cried.  And then proceeded to be very high maintenance.
Heading to the car loop.  Wade is staring into space, plotting his next takeover no doubt.

No nap.  No quiet time.  But I'm sure we'll figure this out.  Right?

The big kids seem happy.  They have stories to tell.

Lucy talked about her day.  "I was telling Maggie and Ella about Aphrodite and Athena," she explained.  She is really into this "Goddess" series of books.  "They looked at me all weird.  But they're Christian so they don't get it."

I stifled my laughter.  "Um, we're Christian too you know," I told her.

"No we're not, we're Methodist," Lucy replied, annoyed that I interrupted her.

"Go ahead, finish your story," I told her.  Okay, obviously I have some work to do in Sunday school with Miss Lucy about what it means to be a Methodist.  I just asked her, "Hey, it's so interesting to learn about new things, new beliefs, isn't it?"

I have a lot of stories to tell too.  But last night when I sat down to write a story, I got distracted.

Full disclosure here...
  • I got distracted with my friends on Twitter.
  • I got distracted with my friends on MSNBC (yeah I call Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews my friends sometimes).
  • I got distracted watching former President Bill Clinton speak at the Democratic National Convention.  And yeah, I got distracted getting my swagger back as a Democrat because his speech was f#&*ing amazing.  Who else can get #arithmetic trending on Twitter?
  • I got distracted texting my only other liberal friend in my town, Stephanie of course.
  • I got distracted drinking too much.
Don't look at me all weird.
We may be different.  I am discovering everyday how many Republican friends I have as they "like" Mitt Romney's page on Facebook.  I don't unfriend them.  Honestly, I judge "unfrienders" more than people who supported Sarah Palin in 2008.

You like Mitt Romney? That's cool.  Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I unfriend you.  That's crazy. Seriously people.

Just because I am putting an Obama/Biden sign in my yard doesn't mean you don't get it, right?

I believe we all do the best we can.  We all want to take care of our families, our children, our homes.  I hope we can agree to disagree about issues but still agree to agree about the fact that we all care.  We all care about our families, our children, our homes.

Whatever your yard sign, bumper sticker or Facebook page says, let's agree that we all have stories to tell and it's interesting to learn new things, new beliefs.

But what do I know? I'm the lady who's kid locked himself in the bathroom and she had to climb through a window to get him out.  Just doing the best I can.

Don't be afraid to tell your story. In the great words of Tom Petty "don't back down." (This song was playing as Bill Clinton exited the stage last night at the DNC.)

Classic clip from Designing Women about politics.  Love Julia Sugarbaker. "All liberals are not kooks, just as all conservatives are not fascists. And the last time I checked God was neither a Democrat or a Republican." Preach!

And now if Bill Clinton could run for President again life would be grand.

    Keep up the good work.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. Sometimes I hit "publish" on posts and I worry about what in the world people will think, it's nice to know it's not always "she is totally crazy." :) I truly appreciate your comment and you reading. Thank you!!!!
