Great Expectations & A Vlog

I try to avoid expectations of any kind.  Expectations can really burn you.   It's tricky, this whole expectations game.  Expect too much and you risk disappointments.  Expect too little and you may experience frustration or even laziness.

I think expectations teach us a lot about ourselves.  How we deal with life when it doesn't work out the way we thought it would, that's how we grow.  It's how we stop repeating patterns.  It's how we cope.

If you've read this blog or have known me for more than a minute, you know I'm pretty sucky in the way of coping skills.  But I'm working on it.

My friend Greta at Gfunkified.com does a fascinating series on Great Expectations.  Every week she invites writers to share an experience or an expectation story from their lives.  Some people have been surprised, disappointed, happy--the whole gamut.  But all of them have learned something.

This week I got to write about how I thought I'd never be a runner, then I thought I was the best mother runner around. After some struggles over the past couple of years, I've come to realize that running is a lot like life and motherhood, full of ups and downs and multiple finish lines.
You can call me a mother runner if you want to.

You know what I do expect?  That one day, one of my vlogs will go viral.  Could this be the one?  Here's a hint,I sing, so maybe.

I'm linking up again the amazing Mama Kat (check her out, she is FUNNY).  Each week she has a list of vlog prompts and we all get to play along.

***This is the first vlog I have ever sung in.  It is very important to note, that in no way do I seriously consider myself a good singer.****

This week's vlog was all about the YouTube craze The Cup Song.  Here are a couple of awesome versions:

So, these guys are a little better than me at the stupid Cup Song.

This will always be my favorite cup song.  And DJ's shoulder pads are the bomb.

  3. Awesome. I knew the second you started --- okay maybe 30 seconds after you started -- what the song was. One of the saddest moment of my life was buying a 1999 cassette tape and putting it in my Impala's tape deck in the Soundware House parking lot and it ATE IT. Prince and my college go together. And you can sing. Enjoyed it.

It's really hard learning the cup song. I know, I tried for like 4 hours yesterday.

    1. Thanks for making me feel better Greta!!! I only practiced the cup song for about 10 minutes before I made the video, that must be why I couldn't get it. :)
