Adventures in Garage Sales

We had a garage sale yesterday.  It was sort of an impromptu kind of sale.  We lined up our things on our driveway, put up a few signs on the road and called it a sale.  Then we waited.  And waited. And waited.  We waited for customers, we waited for sales. We waited.

While I don't think anyone who likes to make money would consider our garage sale a success, it wasn't a total failure.  The whole family spent hours together and it was mostly a lot of fun.

We only made $13, but we learned a lot.
Check out this week's vlog where I share my insights on the adventures of garage sales and give a few tips on what not to do, like expect to get rich from a poorly planned garage sale.

  1. Yeah, I would say Friday would be better. But hey, a cleaned-out basement is a really GOOD thing! Y'all are so cute... :)

  2. Fridays and Saturdays are the days around here. But I don't have or go to garage sales. Not because I'm snotty, but because I just can't get going that early in the morning. I just usually set everything out for the donation truck that comes by a few times a year.

  3. My goodness. You are the master. I will kneel at your feet and learn from you, oh wise one. Oh, no, no, no - not the garage sale. Rather … how to make such a great video! With music!

Can you teach me to be funny too? :-)

  4. Garage sales are so much work. The best days here are Fridays and Saturdays. I've always done them on Saturday mornings and we have a local website (kind of like Craigs List) that you can put them on so people will know to come.

  5. You're just awesome. I'm sorry that the sale didn't work out so well, but yay for cleaned out basements!
